Project description
The Vietnam slum is located in the North Balbala sector of Djibouti-city. The area has benefited of an urban development plan prepared by Keios in 2019-2020. It is one of the most illustrative examples of informal settlement, suffering of the typical issues affecting slums and making it unsuitable for residential use. The slum covers an area of 9 ha and has an estimated population of 2,400 inhabitants.
The general objective of the assignment was to design the upgrading of the Vietnam slum, including a baseline assessment, an urban upgrading plan, development regulation, preliminary/detailed design and environmental/social impact analysis towards the preparation of the bidding documents for priority investment works.
